How to choose the right smart lock?

Apr 30, 2025

01 Sliding cover or straight plate
If you have to face the harsh use environment such as sun and rain, dust and humid air, it is recommended to choose the former. The sliding cover can play a good protective role, effectively maintain the cleanliness and beauty of the fingerprint head and touch screen, and also extend the service life of these two modules. If there are naughty children living nearby, the strong concealment can also prevent them from touching and pressing randomly to a certain extent.
Due to the lack of protection of the sliding cover, the straight plate smart lock is more suitable for use in an environment with little influence of natural conditions. At the same time, the simplification of the design also gives it 3 more advantages: 1. No need to push up the sliding cover, unlocking is more smooth and convenient. 2. The design is not restricted by the sliding cover, and the appearance is more diverse and personalized. 3. One less module, one less possibility of failure.
02 Push-pull handle or free handle
The push-pull style has only become popular in the past two years, and the appearance will be more novel and more futuristic. Compared with pressing down the handle and then pushing the door, it is more convenient and labor-saving to push the handle directly to enter the door. When there are too many heavy objects in your hands, you can use any part of your body to push the door open. In addition, push-pull models are generally fully automatic smart locks, and the automatic locking design makes going out easier and safer.
Although the sense of technology is not as good as the push-pull type, the free design is better in that the technology is more mature and stable, and the price is more affordable. According to current data, it still occupies most of the market. What other advantages does the free handle have? After locking, the handle will be in a free state, isolated from the inside of the lock body, and when it encounters violent damage, it can effectively protect the internal parts.

3 Fingerprint head protection and position
In addition to hiding the fingerprint head under the sliding cover, another common protection method is to add a protective cover directly on the fingerprint head. Although the protection is not as strong as the sliding cover design, it will hardly make noise during the opening process, which is especially suitable for those who come home late and those who like quietness. If the use environment is very good, or you don't mind exposing the fingerprint head completely, you can choose an unobstructed design because it can maximize convenience.
Hiding the fingerprint head in the free handle shaft or the front and back of the push-pull handle can achieve a more convenient effect of opening with one grip. However, these new designs require a fixed unlocking posture, and it will feel awkward if you need to change the finger sensing one day. The traditional design of placing the fingerprint head on the lock body has the advantage of not being picky about fingers and more mature technology.
